KYIV, UKRAINE, May 24, 2012
The PinchukArtCentre has completed the application procedure for the second edition of the Future Generation Art Prize. Since February 6, 2012, the democratic application procedure has allowed more than 4 000 young artists from all continents, representing 134 countries, to apply. All art works were accepted strictly on-line.
Just as in 2010, the most applications come from European artists. The second most active region is Asia. There has been a strong response from South America, Australia, Africa and Oceania, demonstrating how successfully the Prize has extended its global reach, involving artists from all different regions around the world.
More than 50% of the artists are younger than 30 years old, and the proportion between male and female artists is almost equal.
In total, applicants presented more than 21 000 works including all existing media: painting (5 941), graphics (755), drawing (1 500), installation (3 474), sculpture (2 482), photography (3 152), video (1 832), mixed technique (2 229).
Eckhard Schneider, General Director of the PinchukArtCentre: “Global reach and an amazing high artistic quality in the 2nd edition shows that FGAP is worldwide establishment and a truly leading investment into a new generation of artists.”
